Overview

Hydroseeding & Sod

Most failed lawns fail before a single seed goes down, because nobody fixed the grade or the soil first. We strip, grade away from the house, bring in screened black loam, and only then decide whether sod or hydroseed is the better call for your property and budget.

  • Rough and final grading with positive drainage away from the foundation
  • Four to six inches of screened topsoil placed and levelled
  • Instant results with fresh-cut Alberta sod, laid within 24 hours of harvest
  • Hydroseeding for large areas at roughly half the cost of sod
  • Written watering schedule and a two-week follow-up visit

Questions

Hydroseeding & Sod — what people ask.

Hydroseeding or sod — which should I choose?

Sod if you need it to look finished immediately or the area is small. Hydroseed if the area is large, since it runs about half the cost and the resulting root system is often deeper because it establishes in place.

When can I walk on a new lawn?

Sod: about three weeks, once it has knitted to the soil. Hydroseed: after the first mow, usually around week five.

How much watering does it need?

A new lawn needs light watering two to three times a day for the first two weeks. We leave you a printed schedule, and it is the one thing that decides whether the lawn takes.
